Hon Richard Sebamala is a civil engineer, and construction contractor who beat all odds to become the Bukoto Central member of Parliament.
Sebamala is a youthful and flamboyant member of the Democratic party, very unwaivering to the cause and true to himself.
Sebamala, a staunch Catholic, and deeply rooted in church trounced Uganda’s second citizen, Rt Hon Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi with a landslide victory – it was not by miracle but rather hardwork.
The legislator being a Uganda Young Democrats alumni knew the task that awaited him, did his homework thoroughly well to beat all the hurdles along his way to the august house.
The youthful legislator did not only floor the reigning Vice President but also managed to escape the ‘umbrella” wave that painted 90% of Greater Masaka red.
On tussling it with Ssekandi it was a direct confrontation with the state machinery manifested with voter bribery, intimidation, abductions and deaths of his supporters. This didn’t deter him from carrying on with a seemingly seen as a do or die game by his opponents.
On the other hand Sebamala was being challenged with the friendly opposition forces, certainly NUP that was so enthusiastic and crowd pulling more so among the youths that make the biggest percentage of the electorate.
The Democratic party stalwart is a true champion of the saying Hard Work Pays. He’s a product of “Never Giving Up”.
