Pineapples and coffee are the most common cash crops grown in the area.
However, The area MP Eng. Richard Sebamala is fighting tooth and nail to lobby development from internal and external links to at least see his constituents performing better in Agriculture and other sectors.
He already established the Sebamala Agricultural stores to facilitate farmers with tools, skills and seedlings. It is under this sector that Hon Sebamala recently distributed animals to various groups in the constituency to boost plantation agriculture with animal farming.
Over 30 groups received Pigs from the area MP as a start off of the chain distribution of pigs to farmers in need of the breeds.
As one of His visions of strengthening sectors of Agriculture, Education, Health, Women and Youth empowerment, Hon Sebamala said the Distribution of piglets in Bukoto Central will help to alleviate poverty.
Each group received 3 breeds of pig where after a period of one year each group will have a chance of getting a minimum of 10 breeds after multiplication.
Each group will then give out a few breeds to other groups and such a distribution chain will see the project growing to over 10000 piglets in just a few years.
Why pigs are important on a firm
Since pigs are able to recycle most materials, they help farmers to largely reduce feeding costs and waste. They have a high resistance to diseases and easily adapt to Environments.
They are valued as a source of meat and fat and for their ability to convert inedible food into meat and manure, and are often fed household food waste when kept on a homestead.
Under the agricultural cluster, Hon Sebamala recently supplied 3000kgs of maize seeds to all 105 villages across the 9 parishes of his constituency to prepare for the planting season, joined with coffee seedlings in the two sub counties of Kyesiiga and Kyanamukaaka.
