KABALE: MTN Uganda one of the leading telecommunication companies in the country has donated a computer lab, 10 computers and a 24-hour power backup and one-year free internet connectivity courtesy of the MTN Digital Access program to Kabale preparatory school in Kabale Municipality
While launching the donated assortments at the school on Thursday, March 23rd 2023, the Anglican Bishop of the Kigezi of Diocese the Rt. Rev. Gaddie Akanjuna urged teachers at Kabale Preparatory School -KPS to always monitor learners during class when they are using computers
He urged the pupils and teachers at KPS not to use the internet to upload negative content but to use it for studies since nowadays, schools are being targeted by homosexuals who are fighting tooth and nail to publicise the vice in Uganda.
Bishop Akanjuna appreciated the MTN company for donating computers to KPS and also requested them (MTN) to also do the same to other schools which will help the pupils to acquire more skills.
Andrew Tusubira, the Regional Commercial Head MTN UGANDA -Western Region who represented the MTN Uganda CEO, Sylvia Mulinge said, they have donated the mentioned assortments to boost information and communication technologies in schools and communities.
Tusubira noted that at MTN Uganda they believe that everyone deserves a modern connected life and computer labs are a springboard to educators looking to transform traditional instruction and equip learners with technical skills for the fast-evolving job market.
He said that MTN Uganda Foundation is also implementing a digital literacy project in which MTN Internet Bus is carrying out ICT outreach camps in various regions across the country to ignite creativity and innovation by introducing it to remote communities to the benefits of ICT which then can be kept alive through the community resource centers.
Brichards Turyijuka the school head teacher KPS commended MTN staff members for the commitment they have exhibited through giving out computers to the school for leaners to be equipped with more technical skills. He said this will also equip the school with enough computers because they have been lacking.
