PUBLIC ALERT: The Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) has clarified that there is no on-going recruitment of persons/officers for the purposes of the 2023 National Population and Housing Census.
There has been a certain advert circulating on social media announcing recruitment of officers for the 2023 National census but UBOS says it’s circulated by wrong doers misleading the public.
In a Press statement released on Thursday, 30th March 2023 by the Executive Director Chris N. Mukiza, UBOS warned the public against being duped by unofficial communication and advised to treat such information with the contempt it deserves
“The Uganda Bureau of Statistics has learnt of an advert circulating on various social media platforms allegedly inviting applications in view of the recruitment for the 2023 National Population and Housing Census. It goes ahead to encourage all prospective applicants to make use of the Job application form via https://shtnar.com/NPC2023-Recruitments. The bureau wishes to clarify that the circulating advert is FAKE.” the press release reads
UBOS further warned wrong doers engaged in generating and circulating such misleading adverts and any other unofficial information associated with it to desist from such malicious propaganda because they will be handed over to the authorizes for prosecution once identified.
“At an appropriate time, the Bureau shall communicate using the official and rightful channels regarding the recruitment and schedule of activities for the 2023 National Housing and Population Census.” the statements adds
The Uganda Bureau of Statistics is corporate body established under the Act of Parliament of 1998 to deliver statistical services and products in Uganda.
The Bureau conducts a National Population and Housing Census after 10 years to allow the government to make evidence based decision making and economic planning for the citizens. The last Census in Uganda was conducted in 2014.
