HEALTH: Bukoto Central Constituency Legislator Hon. Eng. Richard Sebamala has called for equitable sexual reproductive Health and Rights education to break societal stigmas in Uganda.
MP Sebamala was Chief Guest at the Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights Alliance (SHRH) end of year reflection party in Kampala, and emphasized that everyone’s commitment to fostering a society that respects and safeguards these rights is paramount.
“Sexual reproductive health is not just a matter of physical well-being; it is about empowering individuals to make informed choices about their bodies, relationships, and futures. We must champion comprehensive sex education that equips people with the knowledge they need to make responsible decisions. Moreover, we must dismantle the barriers that hinder access to reproductive health services. Every individual, regardless of gender, deserves the right to accessible and affordable healthcare. Let us work tirelessly to break down the societal stigmas that often shroud discussions surrounding sexual and reproductive health.” Sebamala said
Eng. Sebamala a renown Democratic party vocal Parliamentarian said, In advocating for sexual reproductive rights, we champion the autonomy and agency of each person over their own body. It is a fundamental right that should be upheld and protected. Our collective effort should focus on creating an environment where individuals feel safe and supported in making choices that align with their own values and aspirations.
“Today, as we celebrate progress, let us also recognize the work that lies ahead. We must engage in open and constructive dialogues, fostering understanding and empathy. By doing so, we contribute to building a society that respects and cherishes the diversity of choices and experiences in matters of sexual reproductive health. Let us unite in our commitment to advancing sexual reproductive health and rights. It is a journey towards a more equitable and compassionate world, where everyone can live with dignity, free from judgment and discrimination. Together, we can create a future where every individual’s sexual reproductive health and rights are not only recognized but celebrated.” Sebamala emphasized.
