KABALE: Hon. Wilfred Niwagaba the Ndorwa East MP has asked parents to enroll their children in affordable schools to reduce levels of school dropouts.
Hon. Niwagaba made these remarks on Saturday February 11th, while delivering103 mattresses to 103 Primary Seven candidates of 2022 who passed in division one, a function that was held at Kabanyonyi Primary school in Buhara sub-county Kabale district.
Hon Niwagaba explained that most parents have rushed to take their children to expensive schools which they can’t afford, resulting them to sell-off their property and even students dropping out of school because parents cannot afford required school fees and school requirements.
He further advised parents to give career guidance and counseling as a package to their children when they are going for further studies in order to maintain their next education level performances on a high standard. He asked students to maintain discipline and adopt the usage of advanced technology to cope up with the technological era.
Hon. Bridget Asiinga the Woman councilor Kyanamira Sub county thanked Hon Niwagaba, for great idea of developing education standard in the constituency but also asked the pupils to portray good characters in schools they are heading to and in the community they are going to live in through avoiding bad groups which may lead them into danger.
Rukiga District woman MP, up in arms with contractor for not employing local natives
Meanwhile, the Rukiga District Woman MP Hon Kamusiime Caroline Muhwezi has raised a red flag on Geses Uganda Limited for not employing the local natives on the ongoing construction of Bukinda Seed secondary school.
Geses Uganda Limited is the company that was contracted to construct Bukinda seed secondary school in Buzoba cell, Kandago Parish Bukinda subcounty. Rukiga District.
Speaking to our reporter on Friday after inspecting Bukinda Seed secondary school site, Hon Kamusiime Caroline Muhwezi expressed concern on the high numbers of people outside the district doubling the natives.
Kamusiime showed bitterness on the site engineer for employing potters from Rukungiri, Ntungamo and other districts.
“This is our district and our people must benefit from any of the project, am not going to allow you to bring potters from other districts yet we have unemployed natives with qualifications,” Kamusiime vowed
Kamusiime said that its absurd that out of the 30 workers at the construction site, only 6 are natives of Rukiga District
However, on his defense, the site engineer Mr. Tumukunde Amon said that the locals always disappear after receiving the salary and come back after the salary has been finished yet he has the limited time to hand over the site. He said locals are always impatient to wait for their payments over the week saying that they always want to be paid on a daily basis which they can’t manage.
