Hon Sebamala repairs borehole at Kyanamukaaka health centre IV
“It’s not a duty of the member of Parliament to repair boreholes”, says, Hon Richard Sebamala, MP Bukoto Central, “however, we cannot have a health centre with a maternity ward and theater but without running water.”
Hon Sebamala has started to support the repairs on some of the boreholes in his constituency.
First on the list is the borehole at Kyanamukaaka health centre IV.
“A whole Kyanamukaaka health centre IV with maternity and theater has no running water for a while”, he wondered.
It is the job of government through the district of Masaka to run the health centres at level IV. However, the government has slowed down local governments operations with its policy of submitting budgets to the central government and money sent for budgeted functions. This has failed miscellaneous or unforeseen breakdowns of essential services. The policy removes powers from local governments to address emergency needs of their areas.
Hon Sebamala also raised red flags that there are no safe running water at Malembo landing site as well.
“Should we wait for waterborne diseases such as cholera? We thank the local leadership from the input. Let’s share the little we have and the government will find us along the way”.
