Minister Namuganza delivers 50million Presidential Pledge to Sserinnya Catholic Parish Bukomansimbi.
The Minister of state for Lands, Housing and Urban development Hon. Persis Namuganza on Thursday delivered a Presidential pledge of 50million shillings which is meant to facilitate the construction of a modern Priests’ house at St. Donozio Ssebuggwaawo Sserinnya Catholic Parish Kawoko in Bukomansimbi District.
In December 2022 during the fundraising event to support the mentioned project, Minister Namuganza told Christians that the president will contribute 50m towards the project, and promised to deliver it on time. At least 118 million Uganda shillings were last collected in cash and pledges during the fundraising.
On Thursday 19th January 2023, Minister Namuganza handed over the 50million Uganda Shillings to the Masaka Diocesan Treasurer Rev. Fr. Anselm Ssemogerere and Rev. Fr. FX Mayanja the Sserinnya Parish Priest on behalf of the Bishop of Masaka Rt. Rev. Severus Jjumba at an event held at Sserinnya Parish Kawoko, Bukomansimbi District.
While receiving the Presidential contribution, the Masaka Diocesan Treasurer Rev. Fr. Anselm Ssemogerere and Rev. Fr. FX Mayanja the Sserinnya Parish Priest commended the President for always supporting the Catholic church.
Minister Namuganza told the Clergy and Christians that President Museveni is committed to continue supporting the works of God. She applauded the Catholic church for its tremendous contribution towards community well being and development in the country through its thousands of projects which include schools, hospital, universities, boosting Agriculture etc.
At least 225 million shillings are currently needed to accomplish first phase of the proposed house. The house is currently on a ground base stage.
Masaka Catholic Diocese is composed of 63 parishes from 10 districts in the Greater Masaka Region of the Catholic faith in Uganda, constituted with the approval of the Holy See, through which the religious fathers, sisters, and brothers express their collegiate responsibility through collective action, to assure the progress of the Church and coordination of its social and pastoral ministry.
According to the Rev. Fr. FX Mayanja the Parish Priest, Sserinnya Catholic Parish is among the newly established Parishes in Masaka Diocese which was curved from Kyansi Parish in 2020 and started operations in November 2021.
