Bukoto Central Member of Parliament Hon. Eng. Sebamala Richard has called on the opposition in Uganda to unite so that they can attain the change which every one would wish to see.
Hon. Sebamala was speaking on behalf of the Democratic Party President General during a memorial service to commemorate the life of former Democratic Party Secretary General the Late Matia Nsubuga Birekerawo at Manja village Kisekka sub county Lwengo District last weekend.
The greater Masaka region political king maker Sebamala said, there is need to have a joint force that calls all opposition political parties to fight for a status quo no matter one’s political, religious or tribal sentiments.
“The only gift we can give to this country and the late Hon. Matia Nsubuga Birekerawo as the opposition is to end the political conflicts of tearing each other and unite to cause the change we want to see in Uganda,”Eng. Sebamala said.
Hon. Sebamala added that the Late Hon. Matia Nsubuga always believed in dialogue and peace whenever there was a disagreement between political groups.
The Buganda Royal Prince David Kintu Wasajja the husband to the Late Nsubuga’s daughter Marion Nankya also praised the former Legislator as a political activist who championed democracy and challenged dictatorship.
Sebamala’s call for unity in the opposition comes at a time when political parties are torn apart with endless conflicts mostly on social media where parties are accusing each other for silently serving President Museveni and the ruling government in exchange for huge sums of money shared by top party leaders.
The late Nsubuga’s Memorial service was attended by hundreds of politicians from the opposition who testified that Nsubuga was a bridge builder who would be able to reach out to all of them to try to build consensus and offer an opportunity for dialogue.
Hon. Sebamala is a Democratic Party Stalwart whose history revolves on uniting the electorates from all parties in his constituency during previous elections to kick the former Vice President Ssekandi out of Parliament.
