WATER TRANSPORT: MV Kalangala, a vessel that plies between Entebbe and Kalangala has resumed its normal operations.
In an Official communication released by Mr. Hakim Bwanika the Public relations Officers at National Oil Distributors Limited the operators of the vessel on behalf of the government of Uganda, MV Kalangala resumed its operations on Wednesday April 5th 2023, after nearly one and a half months of breakoff.
The vessel had been taken for mandatory survey and maintenance on 24th February 2023. The ship is also known for boosting the Ssese Islands tourism potential since it carries tourists almost on a daily basis.
MV Kalangala Ferry is a government owned vessel/ship/ferry that is managed by Nation Oil Distributors Ltd. MV Kalangala has her operations on Lake Victoria and oscillates between Nakiwogo in Entebbe and Kalangala Islands on a daily. The journey between Entebbe and Kalangala lasts three and half hours.
MV Kalangala was built in 2005, in fulfillment of President Museveni’s 2001 campaign pledge to the islanders.
