St. Henry’s College Kitovu Head teacher Bro. Augustine Mugabo has been elected Vice President African Confederation of Principal (ACP)
In an Official letter released by the African Confederation of Principals CEO Nicodemus Bore on september 7th 2023, Bro Mugabo was elected during the ACP meeting that took place in Esibayeni lodge Matsapha, Eswatini (Swaziland) on 31st August 2023
Bro. Augustine Mugabo who is also the chairperson of the Association of Secondary Schools Headteachers of Uganda (ASSHU) will be representing the African continent in the global body of ICP as and when nominated or called for by ACP
“On behalf of the African Confederation of Principals, i wish to take this opportunity to congratulate you on your election as the New Vice President of this great confederation……ACP welcomes your election and on behalf of the secretariat wish to congratulate ASSHU and the great teaching fraternity in Uganda and confirm our undivided support to you and your entire team as you push the agenda of the African child and the African principal for the next 2 years.” the letter reads.

The African Confederation of Principals (ACP) is the umbrella body for African School Principals which meets bi-annually.

About Bro. Augustine Mugabo
The soft-spoken Brother Augustine Mugabo, 48- Head teacher of St Henry’s College- Kitovu , a boys’ government aided secondary school in Masaka City is a teacher of substance in English language and literature who has been the Headteacher of St Henry’s College for the last 10 years.
He hails from Kabuwoko village, Masaka district. Literature is part of his life and it’s the same message he usually inculcates in as many students he has taught.
Mugabo attended schools; Bishop Ddungu Primary School, St Johns Kabwoko and St Charles Lwanga- Kasasa. He was always a star waiting in the wings to walk his way in the education sector because he loved reading books and teaching under the sun.
Beginning as a licensed teacher, at the age of 17 after sitting senior four, it was during his vacation when he started teaching under the funding of the government at St Cecilia girl’s primary school, Villa Maria, in 1992.
Back then, he was paid a monthly salary of shs: 2000 but money was never his first priority. Teaching was the key and still lives by it as a life conundrum.
He advanced and enrolled into religious life as a member of the brothers of Christian instruction. So, he studied religious formation first that involves; philology, philosophy and biblical lessons.
Between 1998 and 2000, he was able to join Ibanda Secondary School. While there, he was a go-getter, who never wanted to stay too long in the same place and moved to St Edwards- Bukuumi, Kibaale District.
Thereafter, he went for studies at Kyambogo University where he attained a bachelor’s degree of Arts with Education in 2005.
During his first-semester at the University, he taught for 30 days at St Leo’s- Kyegobe secondary school in Fort portal District.
Mugabo joined St Henry’s college-Kitovu in 2005 with 900 students and his teaching hunger and commitment guided him to be appointed deputy head teacher. He was elevated to the top seat of head teacher until now. He also went in for a Master’s degree and graduated in 2010 in Washington University, USA
Mugabo is the14th head teacher since the inception of the St. Henry’s College Kitovu in 1922 and one of the best secondary schools in the country.
